Volunteers play a major role in supporting patients and families of VNHC. When Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care Inc. merged in 1998, the combined agency became the first home care agency that could extend volunteer services to home care patients-a service usually reserved for hospice families only. Volunteers may work with patients and families in a variety of settings: in the home, hospital, nursing home or at the Richard Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford.

Daytime and evening volunteer training courses occur twice a year in October and April. For those short on time, abbreviated training courses and weekend training will be available in 2007.

Administrative support volunteers do not require training.

If you are interested in becoming a VNHC hospice volunteer, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (203) 276-3044. We look forward to hearing from you.
