Although some insurance companies have begun to pay for hospice residential care, the room and board expenses (meals, housekeeping, laundry, etc.) are generally the responsibility of the patient, and are comparable to a room in a moderately priced hotel. Fees are charged on a sliding scale according to the patient’s ability to pay.
As with other Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care programs, the patient’s skilled care costs are reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
